For a limited time, the Origin store is giving away downloads of Mass Effect 2 “on the house.” (Bioware)

PC Game Deals of the Week is a roundup of the latest game deals — pre-sale, new, and even classics — that are available either for free or on sale. All games will be able to be activated through Steam, Origin, or Uplay. Sometimes, there will even be games that are DRM-free.

In what may have been a coincidence, the Origin store is upping the ante this January by offering better games for gamers to download for free. Last year saw mostly older and less-desired games for download, while Ubisoft offered several steals throughout its year-long anniversary giveaway.

This month’s “On the House” download, Mass Effect 2, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the epic trilogy. The only real requirement to download the game for free is to register an Origin account, which you can do so here.

If you are a fan of all three games of the space opera, you can purchase the entire series from DLGamer for only $10.99.

If space operas aren’t your thing, the Humble Store has a great deal going on.

The most notable is its “Humble Monthly” subscription; which is a good way to discover hand-picked indie games, which sometimes include classics, and save on other Humble Store purchases.

The monthly subscription costs $12 or less per month, and includes a AAA title to sweeten the deal. This month’s offer is XCOM 2, a great turn-based game that lets you guide humanity’s resistance against an alien invasion.

For those who have yet to play Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft is offering a weekend of free play, beginning Feb. 1 to Feb. 5. It is a game that I would definitely recommend getting into as the fanbase and competitive scene is only growing stronger a year after its release.

If none of these sales satisfy your lust for extremely sweet gaming deals, below are some of the best sales on games currently available across the internet. Some of these deals may expire quickly, and will be updated accordingly.

‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands’

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is the latest installment in the acclaimed Ghost Recon series. Unlike previous installments, the game is said to stray away from its previous futuristic setting and take place near present-day. (Ubisoft)

If you are like me and enjoy every Ubisoft tactical third-person shooter game, then look no further than Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. If you are fawning over the idea of exploring South American landscapes where you may or may not participate in covert operations, you can pre-order the regular edition for $49.95 from Gamecheap.

The game is set in Bolivia, which has apparently become increasingly unstable as the Santa Blanca drug cartel takes control and sets Bolivia on the map as the world’s largest cocaine producer. As a result, the United States Army dispatches an elite special ops unit called “the Ghosts” to destroy the cartel and reveal the connection between the Santa Blanca cartel and local Bolivian government.

Wildlands is no doubt going to have a substantial core of gamers following its release. The Rainbox Six series is known for the competitive FPS scenes it fosters after each release. The game is currently in closed beta, and, from what we’ve seen on YouTube, it looks flippin’ great.

‘For Honor’

Third-person melee games get a revitalization as For Honor ditches the sci-fi aspect of Assassin’s Creed for all-out war. (Ubisoft)

What sounds better than a hack and slash fighting game set in a fantasy medieval-inspired world? Nothing! For Honor, just off of its premise, sounds like it will be one of the best games of the year. Fighting as a knight, Viking or a samurai for the honor of your faction, while using a variety of weapons and special skills. The hand-to-hand combat system is called “The Art of Battle,” so there are high expectations just based on that.

According to the game’s synopsis, the bloodthirsty warlord Apollyon believes that the people of the knights, Vikings and samurai have grown weak and wants to create all-out war by manipulating each faction. Agendas are said to be created, and battles are waged, as Apollyon works to ensure that continous conflicts exist between the Legion, the Warborn, and the Chosen.

There hasn’t been too many great third-person melee games since the Assassin’s Creed games flooded the market. You can judge a game pretty well by the amount of promotional gameplay videos and trailers that get put out pre-release. You can pre-order the regular edition for $43.49 from CDKeys.

‘Sniper Elite 4’

With a much larger map and improved AI, Sniper Elite 4 is said to be a “sniper paradise.” (Rebellion Developments)

Sniper Elite 4 will feature an increase scale and complexity of the maps and AI, which unfortunately means it will virtually unplayable on older computers. The game takes place immediately after the events of Sniper Elite 3, so jump on this if you are a fan of the franchise. You can pre-order the game for only $44.99 at Gamers Gate.

The latest installment to the Sniper Elite franchise is set in Italy during 1943, in the immediate aftermath of the events which concluded Sniper Elite 3. Players control Karl Fairburne, an Office of Strategic Services agent, who is assigned to assist the Italian resistance force to fight the fascists in World War II.

According to Tim Jones, head of creative for the game’s developer Rebellion Developments, the game was designed to be a “sniper paradise.” The animation system, artificial intelligence and the game’s rendering technology were also redesigned. “Real long shots” is said to be a thing.
